Eugene Vielkanowitz along with many other Americans joined the Army in World War 2.

He enlisted on November 27, 1942 with the enlistment being described as “...for duration of War plus six months.”

He was described as “Single without dependents” and being 67 inches in height and 134 pounds in weight.

He went through a bunch of Army training and emerged as a 2nd Lieutenant in the engineers.

 By September, 1943, he had married Muriel.  (Lynn was born in November, 1944.)
