Interesting info about these photos

Julian Quintero also pointed out similar information about this plane.  The Bellanca 77.

Julian said, “The photos os the Bellanta 77 are planes of the Colombias air force, un one picture are the remains of a Bellanca tha was burned resting the metal structure.”

So I looked back at the first picture.  Scroll back up to the first picture on this page; there’s a frame of another airplane sitting on that barge!

And if you look closely, both these planes have the Colombia insignia!

Julian, thank you.  I never would have noticed this.

Again, the Colombian Air Force insignia:

It turns out, again from Julian, “the bellanca in the pictures was airplanes delivered to the Colombian Air

Force, in the pictures these aircrafr still are in American territory prior to send to Colombia, you can see

the colombian military avition roundels on the planes, Colombia required 4 planes os the model

Bellanca 77, but un plane was destroyed in USA before deliveres to Colombia, in one of your pictures

you can see the burned plane.

So I questioned Julian, like Wuh??

He responded, “In1932 Colombia enter in war against the Peru, a border war. both countries have a lot os request for

new planes to the factories of USA, Colombia requires a Consolidated P2Y-1C Ranger (Commodore),

may be two but one canceled, and 4 Bellancas, between other models and types of aircraft. But one

Bellanca was destroyed in factory by fire, in the collectios of the museum os San Diego have more

photos of the Ranger and Bellancas. the Ranger was send to Colombia un late 1933 and the 3 bellancas

in 1935, only the Ranger saw the war.”

In fact, the Bellanca was used as a bomber in that war; see the cover drawing on Popular Aviation magazine for December, 1934:

So my father has pictures of this stuff.  Wow!
