This is the base of the pedestal which would carry the radar dish and the bits and pieces of the radar used to transmit and receive signals.
The pieces on the ground are the beginnings of the antenna dish.
This was taken looking back at the main building from the pedestal, above. That dome you see is an existing radar called Alcor.
To the right are pieces of the dome that would make a cover for the MMW radar.

All these pieces were triangles. When properly put together, they form a dome for the radar. The dome looks like a golf ball. So these are the pieces to a three dimensional puzzle. Look closely at the edges; there are holes for the nuts and bolts that will hold the pieces together. There are about eleven holes per edge. That’s interesting because some time after the entire dome was assembled, someone realized they had used the wrong connecting hardware and each nut and bolt had to be replaced.
Here are some pictures I took of the radar dish being installed. Cameras were not allowed inside the main building due to security concerns. I actually had nothing to do with the antenna installation but it was interesting to watch.
